Konkan Sun Productions is an independent video production company based in New York. We make short films, documentaries, social media content, and brand films for clients who care how their story looks on screen.

We handle everything: from the first creative conversation to final delivery. Script, shoot, edit, sound, color. One team, one vision, start to finish.

Konkan Sun was founded by Gautam Kannan, and his background is not a typical one for a production company.

Gautam spent over two decades as a Vice President at some of the world's largest financial institutions, leading complex, high-stakes programs across technology, risk, and global operations. That career taught him how to manage ambiguity, deliver under pressure, and earn the trust of people who don't give it easily.

In 2020 he stepped away from banking to do something he'd always wanted: build a company around storytelling. Konkan Sun Productions was the result.

Since then, he has trained as a professional actor, earning representation with CESD Talent Agency, one of America's premier commercial acting agencies, and performing in four full-length stage productions. He has also developed deep expertise in fine fragrance as a collector, a student of perfumery, and the founder of The Society of Scents and Spirits, a content platform dedicated to the art of living well. He also runs Agent Micho, an AI automation company, and uses that expertise to bring modern production efficiency to every Konkan Sun project.

How We Work

We are not a high-volume shop. We take on a small number of projects at a time and give each one our full attention.

Every project starts with a real conversation: about your brand, your audience, and what you're trying to make people feel. We don't start writing or planning until we understand that.

From there, we work from a detailed project plan with clear milestones, cost estimates, dependencies, and a realistic timeline. Gautam's background includes over 20 years of program and project management at JP Morgan, Citi, and Morgan Stanley, leading complex, multi-stakeholder programs under regulatory and commercial pressure. That discipline is applied to every production. You always know where the project stands, what it is costing, and what is coming next. If anything changes, you hear about it immediately, with options, not surprises.

One of the real pain points in production is coordination. AD work in particular is often where projects lose time and clarity, with too many handoffs, misaligned expectations, and no single person accountable for keeping the moving parts in sync. Gautam's background is specifically in managing complex systems: an M.S. in Computer Science with a focus on distributed systems, a degree in Computer Engineering, and 20 years running multi-stakeholder programs at JP Morgan, Citi, and Morgan Stanley. That discipline comes to every production. Once a project moves into execution, Gautam manages all resources and brings in a trusted production consultant or AD to handle day-to-day coordination, while remaining your primary point of contact throughout. You won't be chasing status. You won't be surprised by scope changes. The project gets done, the stress stays low, and expectations are managed at every step.
